Legislation

The firm is active in legislative activities both in the Oklahoma Legislature and in the Congress. The late Horace G. Rhodes, the firm’s former president, was counsel to the Joint Committee of the Oklahoma Legislature that drafted the present Insurance Code during 1955-1957. Angela Ables is the executive vice president and General Counsel of the Association of Oklahoma Life Insurance Companies which includes lobbying for its members companies. Ms. Ables is a registered lobbyist for several insurance companies and/or insurance associations. Ms. Ables has been involved in insurance legislation for over forty years and has drafted many pieces of legislation now comprising the Oklahoma Insurance Code. Her expertise in legislative matters has provided insurers and other industries with advice and negotiation through the legislative process.
